The Mariners’ Polytechnic Training Center (Commo. Jaime C. Jimenez, Foundation) Inc. is a corporation duly registered with Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) on February 27, 1983. It is accredited by the Maritime Training Council (MTC) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) for upgrading training courses referred under STCW Programs and local training requirements.
MPTC envisions to be the premier training institution for seafarers and allied profession that provides quality maritime training courses consistent with the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) through the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping of Seafarer’s (STCW) 1978.
Last 30 March 2009, the Assessment System of MPTC was recognized by the Maritime Training Council authorizing the training center to assess competence of seafarers for the issuance of Certificate of Proficiency (COP).
In the pursuit of competence, MPTC has a pool of qualified trainors/assessors providing the quality standards in training and assessment activities to seafarers making them more competent andcompetitive with the best of their kind in the maritime industry.
The Training Center has recently engaged in new training programs for allied courses such as Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism. Other programs for the enhancement of leadership and management skills for officers are also offered. It has also forged linkages with the Welding Industry of the Philippines for the training requirements of offshore personnel of its sister company UNLAD Ship Manning Management for welders and fishermen. Outreach programs for its neighboring coastal community extending survival firefighting and first aid extension services to fisher folks are the expression of its core value of social responsibility.
The Quality Management System of MPTC was certified by SGS (Societe Generale De Surveillance) under ISO 9001:2008 having passed the international standards for Quality Management System.
The training facilities of MPTC include theoretical site in 5/F EMI Center, 1181 Leveriza St. Cor. Pres. Quirino Avenue, Malate, Manila and practical site in Lido Beach Resort, San Rafael, Noveleta, Cavite.
Safety training programs are also offered in the Bicol Region, Cadets of Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges Foundation are trained at Mariners’ Training Institute (MTI) in Baras, Canaman, Camarines Sur and in Rawis, where Basic Safety, Engine and Navigational Watchkeeping Courses are conducted.

|In preparation for the implementation of the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments on January 2012. Mariners' conducts exclusively to its trainees a special FORUM on the impact of the 2010 Manila STCW Amendments to Seaferers. This is in keeping with its thrust of making seafarers informed of the changes that will happen and how it will affect them.|
